I have never felt better in my life. I am about 90% raw now, but I still enjoy my morning coffee. I don't know if I will ever give up my beloved coffee, but who knows! I never thought I would become a raw foodist either!
I have lost weight, become more energetic, gained mental clarity and I have softer, clearer skin! The raw food choices are abundant and eating Living, Raw foods are on a higher vibration than cooked, dead foods are. This fact alone has brought me to a higher level of consciousness and personal evolution. I feel so connected to what I am eating and part of the Earth in a new way. I had no idea how much adopting this lifestyle would change my life.
Here are a some photos of my recent favorite raw recipes!
The greatest value of the raw food diet is its transformative value. To a great extent, when you take up the raw food diet , you become a new and different and better person. You don't just stay the old person, only a little healthier. You become, to a great extent, a new being with new interests, a new philosophy and outlook on life, new goals and desires. You become more of your essence, your true and natural self. You become a person who is more a part of the one great life of Nature and less of the confused human world. You become less "of the world" and more "of the Earth." -- Joe Alexander

i think you hit on such an important point there, and i doubt that a person has to adopt one certain (for example, raw) diet for it to be effective, but there is something about raw foods and the mindfulness OF choosing them that goes hand in hand. the thing you touched on is the connection to your food and to the earth- that is exactly how i feel about my chosen diet (which has a lot of raw, but also a lot of stuff i process/cook/ferment/store myself so we can eat locally... again, for me, it's the connection.)
Thanks for your comment mb!
Rawsome !! I have been Vegan for about 5 months now and try to eat raw as much as possible. I became Vegan after watching 10 mins of the "Earthlings" documentary. I do it for Animal Rights reasons first, personal health and environmental/global health reasons. It just feels so good to have the positive energy that comes from plant-based live food in my body. Thanks for sharing Dayna :-)
Thanks Tiffany! I look forward to spending time again with you in the future! Hope all is well in your part of the world!

Mmmm...those pics make me hungry:) Good for you Dayna taking up a mostly raw food diet. I'm glad that you are experiencing some dramatic changes in your health and life. Have any of your kids decided to become raw?
Like Tiffany, I'm vegan for the same reasons. I tried to do the raw diet, but found it too cumbersome and expensive. I live in really really rural middle of nowhere Alaska, and getting fresh produce can be difficult.
Eating should be pleasurable and fun...I just find that being mindful of what I am feeding myself and family to be of primary importance.
Thanks for sharing!
I would imagine that grains are not part of a raw diet since they must be processed? We, too, embarked on a new diet a few months ago (paleo/primal) and while it involves cooking foods, the connection you mention is there (particularly since we raise our own pork and chicken). Even though our diets are somewhat different, I have felt the same benefits and I think it just goes to show you how being mindful of what you eat can bring such a connection to our food and the Earth that provides it. Congrats on your new insights!
The pictures are awesome -
