Our Nature Table

We love our Nature Table! We have had one on and off for over 6 years now. It is so great to have a centralized place for the kids to place anything that they bring in from outside in nature.

It has become a family tradition to start a new nature table every season and watch it grow over the months. The change of the seasons always inspires us to begin a new Nature Table theme.

Here is the beginning of our Autumn Nature Table that the kids created today. I usually hang a new colorful silk that reflects the season as a backdrop and the kids excitedly run around outside finding objects to start it. Devin's single"rule" about our Nature Table is that only things from nature can be placed on it. We all agreed to this years ago and everyone undertands and respects our sacred space to honor nature in this way. The kids have added bees hives, acorns, flowers and leaves to bring the wonders of nature into our everyday lives.

Over the months of each season, our Nature Table becomes a unique, one of a kind natural collage that grows and changes so so beautifully to create an amazing display from nature. Everyone that comes to visit us comments on it.

I can't wait to see what it looks like by winter!

That is such a good idea, and I think it helps prevent the spread of bugs in your home, too. (Keeps all the stuff from outside in one place).
Have you been out freeganing lately, btw?

Hey Danielle, Bringing stuff in from outside doesn't usually bring little critters in from my experience. Now, the food crumbs on the floor, that's a different story. ;)
