Rockin' Rethinking Education!

We just got back from a week in Dallas, Texas where we attended the famous Rethinking Education Conference. I was honored to be a Featured Speaker this year.

Here is a video that Joe created to share the highlights of our amazing, experience!

I just finished reading your book last night and it was so amazing. I read it in 2 days! I couldnt put it down. I hope you do another book soon, maybe one with more about the educating part of radical unschooling since this first books seemed to be more about parenting. I really needed to read this book at this very moment in my life though. I felt peaceful parenting quickly loosing enthusiasm as I gained frustration through our recent move and whatnot. I especially loved how you talked about dads parenting differently. My husband is such a hands on, great dad, but I do find him a smidge more abrasive in his parenting than I prefer. I am just glad you wrote that chapter so that I could stop harping on him and just accept him and love that he isnt a spanking dad and does settle things with love and respect even if he does raise his voice on sometimes a regular ocassion:) It helped a lot. He actually wants to read the book too so I am secretly really hoping he does.

I really liked Joe's video. He seemed to capture the essence of RE, which to me looked like a lot of happy parents and children having fun. I really liked the Alice Miller quote "Children are messengers to us from a world we once deeply knew." That quote combined with theGN'R song from my childhood gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. :)
