Unschooling Mentors

Surrounding our kids with passionate people who can be mentors to them is part of living a rich Unschooling life. Devin has had a passion for fire since he was four years old. We have nurtured his interest for as long as we can remember in various ways. Most recently, a good friend of ours offered to mentor him in fire breathing. This was very exciting for Devin because he connected with Roderick's passion and inspiration. He learned safe ways to work with fire and shared information with Devin that he really appreciated and took seriously.

Finding and connecting with people who share your child's interest is using one of the best resources available! Passion-driven learning is one way to describe Unschooling. Facilitating our children's learning through finding mentors is one way in which we can offer our children resources.

We are so grateful for our friend Roderick Russell and to the many other friends who offer to mentor our children in their various passions and interests in life.

Here is Roderick showing Devin how to breathe fire. Roderick will be performing at the upcoming Life Rocks! Radical Unschooling Conference. Please join us and utilize the many people who will be presenting there to nurture your child's interests!
