We Be Jammin'

Living a free, relaxed, unhurried life, much of what we do together is unplanned. We do a lot of fun, exciting things mind you, they are just done very organically and naturally decided upon as an interest comes up. We are what you could describe as Joyously Impulsive.

We were outside lazing in the sun and I was reading the book "Jamberry" to Orion and Ivy. The older kids overheard me. The asked me if we could go pick berries together somewhere. I said, "Sure!" We jumped in the car and drove to a wonderful farm which had raspberry picking.
We spent a wonderful hour together picking plump, luscious berries. It was so much fun!

We got home and Devin, Dakota and Ivy each made their own little batch of jam. Dakota has saved everything she has ever acquired in life and when she has candy, she makes it last much longer than everyone else. Here you can guess which jar of jam is Dakota's. She will have it until next raspberry season I am willing to bet.

She isn't Tiffany anymore?

She seems to be naturally easing back into Dakota again. When people call her Dakota she doesn't correct them anymore. I asked her if she minded being called Dakota and she said, "No, people can call me either now".

Since she told me this I asked her if I could start calling her Dakota again and she said, "If you want to. I don't care."

So, I think she is moving away from the sweet nickname she had for the last 2 years. I'm going with it, respecting her wishes and at the same time, honoring what feels right to me as a mother. Right now I call her Tiffany sometimes and Dakota other times.

It is shifting. I am so happy that we have respected what she wanted to be called for so long. For whatever reason, she is outgrowing the need to be called Tiffany.

Thanks for asking Danielle, because I have wanted to share this part of her journey.

Very cool. I knew she'd shift away from it eventually, because I had a cousin/friend who was the same way. (Athena "Nancy").
It sounds like it's making you a little sad!

No, it isn't making me sad at all. I am totally cool with whatever she wants to be called.
